Wish is a truly remarkable mare with great temperament, is willing and eager to please, and kind-hearted. She is a sweethearted lady who does her best for anyone who rides her, and is very gentle as well. She was the first that I (Elaine) ever created and owned on Riata, and am glad I did. Wish has proven over and over again what a superb horse she is – not only competition-wise, but in heart and soul as well. Though starting to get on with her years, I am quite saddened that she will be probably be retired soon, but look forward to the unquestionably wonderful foals she will have, who will no doubt have a very special place in my heart as well.

When first starting Riata, I decided to own a young horse in training, and a seasoned competition horse to compete. Thus, Wish was created. I wasn’t really expecting much to happen, as I was new and at a complete loss at what to do. However, through lots of hard work, help from other players and the success of this wonderful horse, I learnt the trick and the trades of Riata. She competed in many shows, always doing very well and therefore bringing in a good reputation to both me and herself. She has never been a hard horse to handle in the show ring and backstage, never making any kind of fuss and giving everything her all. She is one of the most successful horses ever owned and trained by me personally, and I am very proud of all her achievements to date.
In the stable, she is a mannerly lady who give kindness and affection to all. With her calm and gentle temperament, she is perfect for letting out with nervous new horses at the stable, for she can calm them right down and allow them to feel less threatened and get used to their new home. A wonderful mount for children as well, Wish has been favoured to be ridden by visiting children on unaccountable occasions due to her sympathetic, considerate and affectionate attitude, and has the full confidence of all staff to be extra careful with them.

Now, after going through thick and thin, after seeing the times as a beginning boarder to a full-fledged breeding barn owner together, she is still my overall prized horse in the entire stable and can never, ever be replaced by another. Was my first favourite, and will always be my favourite horse in the whole stable. I can't even begin to comprehend Riata without her, and no amount of money could ever make me part with this treasured mare who will undoubtedly live her life to the fullest at Phoenician Stud, right till the end.

When first created, her name wasn’t really of much significance, just a simple-minded girl giving her horse a hopeful little name. But lately, she has begun to live up to her name. She is as close to perfect as you could get – confident and consistent in the show ring, gentle and pleasing to handle, thoughtful, sensitive, a wonderful partner…Everything a horse-person could ever wish for. Therefore, she has really lived up to her name: a Perfect Wish.

Perfect Wish was awarded the prestigious REAA title on 20th February 2007.
