An exquisite red-bay mare, Emma is one of Phoenician's first Trakehner and foundation mare, and is the 'mother' of all our mares. She's never going to be top of the pecking order as she's too mild mannered for that, but she's always to be found in the middle of the herd with at least one or another of the mares close by being treated to her patient grooming. She's the perfect mother, patient just long enough, and then snapping her displeasure quickly once when her foal goes a little to far. This makes her great for putting with the youngstock. She tolerates them just enough, then puts then sharply in their place when they need it. Still, she has a naturally regal look on her that makes people stop to gawk at her, and seems to pass that on to her foals. She throws gorgeous babies with earth-shakingly smart posture and movement, and are all immensely suited to perform well in dressage.
Incredibly suited for life in the show ring, it's a shame she's never been shown before, but it seems her foals are now reflecting the potential she never fulfilled. Her oldest offspring, Elyria (owned by Emily G) is just starting out her career as a professional dressage horse, and is already impressing dressage judges around with her flamboyant movements and smooth-flowing paces. Second daughter, Phoenician Encore, was one of Phoenician's most successful and outstanding homebreds, earning a very impressive show record in dressage before being sold to Jen, and later Sarah of Foxwood Farm, where she is still continuing to thrive and succeed. Her third foal, Phoenician Esperanza, was the only foal by Maestro this in the 2006 season, and is already showing off the traits she has received from both parents. With a beautifully shaped head, clean legs, and friendly personality, it won't be long before that little one will be storming the show rings as well! For the 2007 season, Emma presented us with the sweetest little replica of herself ever, down to the gentle eyes and regal nature. By Ivioren, an Advanced-level dressage competitor, this filly's future in the dressage arena has been practically sealed, and I can't wait to watch her grow. Now, trying to figure out the sire to 2008's foal will be a real challenge!
